Content Studio dialogs cannot be shown after installing Windows XP servicepack 2

Symptoms

After installing Servicepack 2 of Microsoft Windows XP any attempt to show a modal or modeless dialog in Content Studio fails with the error message "Access denied".

Cause

Content Studio consequently uses modeless or modal dialog windows. By default all these dialogs are considered to be popups that should be blocked by the new popup-blocker unless the site is situated in the local intranet or trusted sites securit zone. This is true even if the dialog was shown as a result of a user action like clicking a button.

Resolution

If you do not like to turn off the popup-blocker, you should allow popups from all of your Content Studio sites. Alternatively you could add the Content Studio site to your trusted sites or to the local intranet.

Status

This behaviour is a cause of the new security initiative launched by Microsoft and is by design.
